Post-Launch Interview with Casey Gauss

On Tuesday, November 13, Viral Launch proudly introduced 2 new tools as well as an update to existing software. We hope you enjoyed the webinar introducing our new space-age tools – Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manager – that are unlike any others in the galaxy.

Casey himself has envisioned different aspects of these tools and was thrilled to see them come to fruition and further improve Viral Launch’s software suite. We spent hours upon hours in the lab fine-tuning the new tools and making them as impactful for sellers as possible.

Casey coached and supported everyone on the team the whole way through, so to wrap up the launch we treated him to a press conference worthy of a champion, complete with a surprise “Gatorade” shower from Cam. He was such a good sport!

Enjoy the video of Casey below with interviewer Katherine de Guia and read through the interview transcript for more news and notes from the Viral Launch CEO.

Interview Transcript

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Hi Casey. Thank you so much for taking some time out of our post-launch celebration. It was great. How are you feeling and what are you most excited about following the release of a new tool?

CASEY GAUSS:

I’m feeling very good. I think it went really smooth. Cam did a great job. The team did a great job on the production tech, but then also the tech works seamlessly. Overall, I’m feeling really good. What am I really excited about? I’m really excited to see the feedback of our customers. I’m really excited to see people start making better decisions with these tools in leveraging the functionality that we’ve provided for them, and I’m also excited to see how well the tech holds up. How many subscribers are we getting in? There’s a lot to be excited about after our new tool.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

That’s awesome. This is really going to start a new era for Viral Launch. Can you tell us a little bit more about how these tools came to be?

CASEY GAUSS:

Yeah. Over the last nine months, we’ve just been focused on building some really awesome technology that is going to help our sellers both now and in the future. Originally, we were focused on building one tool. We weren’t going to hit the date and so the team really rallied together and we put out these tools which honestly actually are going to be largely a subset of what our major tool was that we were launching. The real focus here, again, is on giving people the data that they need in order to make the right decisions and the automation that they need in order to keep up with everything that is going on in their Amazon business.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Wow. I’m going to ask you to do something a little bit difficult here, so bear with me. In 30 seconds or less, okay?

CASEY GAUSS:

Mmm. Yeah.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

In 30 seconds or less, can you please remind sellers how this new software can help them drive more sales right now and in the future?

CASEY GAUSS:

We’ve automated the process of going and analyzing your product to help you understand opportunities to go and make improvements right now. It also helps you to monitor the performance of different important metrics in your Amazon business to help you in real-time constantly make improvements and updates to make sure you’re selling as well as possible.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Okay. Anything else people should know about these tools? Anything you haven’t mentioned that is super important?

CASEY GAUSS:

The tools over anything – can you repeat the question, please?

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Is there anything that you haven’t touched on yet that you might want to really highlight about these new tools?

CASEY GAUSS:

Overall, there’s a lot of value here from the standpoint of these tools in and of themselves are really powerful for sellers who also have a suite of three other tools that are also really powerful. We’re combining these without making you pay any more under one $99 per month subscription. There’s also some awesome interactions between each tool, again, making sure that you get a ton of value and a ton of opportunity just to – you know, your business isn’t run in the silos and these tools really help to interact with one another to give you the most.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Awesome. So, with these two huge cornerstones, any news on what’s next for Viral Launch?

CASEY GAUSS:

As we mentioned, this is just the tip of the iceberg for this new phase. We have another new tool hopefully coming out in the next two, three months maybe. I don’t want to say specific dates, but this new tool is – there’s not a tool out there that exists like this. It’s not just individual data points that you’ve never seen before. This tool has never been seen in the Amazon space with a lot that people are not paying attention to. That is a small tool relative to the rest of our product roadmap. In about six months, you’re going to have some pretty incredible and pretty insane technology to help you sell well on Amazon. Just a little teaser for you.

KATHERINE DE GUIA:

Well thank you so much for joining me for this post-interview. I know we’re all super excited to continue this journey with Viral Launch.

CASEY GAUSS:

Yeah. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

Introducing Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manager | New Space-Age Technology by Viral Launch

Viral Launch Adds 2 New Space-Age Tools to Software Suite

As an Amazon seller, data is your secret weapon. Arming yourself with the right data and knowing what to do with it can make all the difference between success and failure. But between choosing and tracking keywords, monitoring the health of your listing, running ads and more, you’ve got a lot to keep track of.

That’s why we’ve spent the last nine months growing our team and working in the lab to build innovative space-age tools that’ll revolutionize the way you make sense of all that data. Because from Day 1, our goal has always been to help you make the right decisions for your Amazon business.

So, without further ado, we’re now proud to announce our two newest tools: Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manager. As of November 13, 2018, these tools are now seamlessly integrated within the Viral Launch platform and can be accessed through a Pro Plan.

The launch of Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manager also signifies the start of a new era for Viral Launch as we have plans to release more groundbreaking tools, made just for Amazon sellers like you, in the upcoming months.

Ready to learn more about how you can use Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manager to optimize your listing and monitor your success? Here’s the rundown on Viral Launch’s newest tools.

Listing Analyzer: Discover Innovative and Impactful Improvements

Your listing is comprised of several main components. You’ve got your title, bullet points, product description, backend search terms and photos all working in tandem to turn browsers into buyers. The keywords you use and the amount of reviews you’ve gathered can make all the difference between a successful product and a dud.

But with all of these moving parts, how do you identify what’s working and what’s not? That’s where Listing Analyzer comes in.

By using information directly from your listing, you’re able to analyze in real time how your listing fares in all critical aspects compared to top competitors in your product market. As you can see in the image below, Listing Analyzer provides you with a Competition Analysis, Review Evaluation, Photo Analysis, Listing Text Analysis, and a list of the top keywords. And for those of you who miss school and getting graded for your work, you’ll also receive an overall Analysis Score on a 1-100 scale so you can see how your listing is doing as a whole.

Speaking of keywords, one of Listing Analyzer’s most impressive features is its use of our groundbreaking ARCS™ technology, which stands for ASIN Relevance and Conformity Semantics.

By using ARCS™, Listing Analyzer is able to programmatically — with no human interaction — look at an ASIN and determine what its main keywords are. So that means you can forget about Reverse ASIN Lookups and complicated keyword spreadsheets. Listing Analyzer is the only tool in the galaxy that allows you to input an ASIN and get back all of that specific product’s most important keywords. You’re not only seeing what the product is indexed for, but you’re seeing exactly what your product should be indexing and ranking for, all without lifting a finger. Learn more about our revolutionary ARCS™ technology here.

By using the data from Listing Analyzer, you’ll learn the immediate, actionable steps you can take to make your listing as powerful as possible. And with seamless integration to Keyword Manager and Listing Builder, you can use your product’s main keywords, identified by ARCS™, to both track your keywords and easily integrate them into your listing’s copy.

In what position are your sponsored ads showing up? And if you sell multiple products, the number of keywords you’re tracking becomes exponentially greater.

Keyword Manager, our second new tool, is here to help. This tool will help you understand your most important keyword analytics all in one simple-to-use dashboard. As you can see below, you can check in real time where you have Amazon’s Choice badges, whether you’re indexed or not, your keyword rank position (with trend graphs), where your sponsored ads are ranking, and much more.

BONUS: Listing Builder Gets Some Love

Are two brand new tools not enough for you? Yeah, us neither. In addition to adding Listing Analyzer and Keyword Manger into the Viral Launch platform, we’ve also made some updates to Listing Builder that we’re sure you’re going to love.

If you’re not up to speed on the aptly named Listing Builder, this tool helps you write a listing in a more streamlined and effortless manner. Import your full list of keywords and sort them by volume, priority or opportunity. Keywords are automatically crossed off your list as you use them, allowing you to easily see and keep track of what you’ve used and what you still need to include. Listing Builder tracks your used and total search volume and gives you an Optimization Score based on the quality of your listing’s SEO.

Already have a live listing? You can also enter your product’s ASIN to import your existing listing directly into Listing Builder and immediately see your Optimization Score.

Listing Builder now has a couple of news ways to get started writing a listing. As you can see below, you can enter a keyword, select recent or pinned keyword searches, and search through your bank of products all from a blank Listing Builder template.

NOTE: Choosing the “enter a keyword” option pulls up all related keywords so you can hop right in and start writing. You can still manually filter out any keywords you want by choosing the “trash can” icon within the keyword list.

Listing Builder is also seamlessly integrated within our two newest tools. Let’s say you’ve uploaded your current listing into Listing Analyzer and you realize you need to make some changes. All you have to do is choose “Edit in Listing Builder” and all of your data will be taken to Listing Builder so you can continue to make changes.

And in similar fashion, if you’re tracking your keywords within Keyword Manager, you’re able to immediately export that list into Listing Builder.

Try Out the Tools for Yourself

If you love data as much as we do, then these two new tools (well… two and a half new tools) are perfect for you. Ready to take them for a spin and dominate on Amazon? Head on over to the Viral Launch dashboard to check them out for free.

New Amazon Listing Builder Tool in Keyword Research

Keyword Research just keeps getting better. The most powerful keyword tool in the galaxy now features an integrated Amazon Listing Builder Tool. Find the most relevant, high volume, high opportunity keywords for your product, and create a new listing or add to an existing listing.  This blog will focus specifically on our new listing builder tool.  If you’re looking for a general introduction on Keyword Research, click here

How the Amazon Listing Builder Tool Works

After running a search, simply select the high-volume, high-opportunity terms you want to use, and click the Create Listing button to get started. Selecting your keywords allows you to weed out any terms that may not apply to your specific product.

A hyper-relevant keyword list will be important as you write. Not sure which words to keep and which to save? No worries. You have the option to remove keywords within the Amazon Listing Builder Tool as you work.

Inside the Amazon Listing Builder Tool, you’ll see Total Search Volume and Used Search Volume for the keywords that you’ve selected. You’ll also see an Optimization Score for the keywords you’ve actually captured in your listing and their placement.

As you write your listing, your Used Search Volume will change and so will your Optimization Score. If you have really solid, full keyword integration, you’ll see an Optimization Score of Perfect, Exceptional, or Great. And you should be capturing most, if not all, of the Total Search Volume for your product.

If your keyword integration is lacking, you’ll see a score of Good, Average, Mediocre, or Needs Work. Click into the score to see a breakdown of the calculation including how much search volume you’ve captured in your title, bullet points, search terms, and description.

Import an Existing Listing

Our Amazon Listing Builder Tool provides sellers with an awesome opportunity to optimize existing listings. Using the Import Listing button, you can see how optimized your current listing is, find missing high opportunity, high volume keywords, and easily add these terms to your listing.

To import a listing, simply click the Import Listing button, and enter the ASIN of the product you’d like to work on. Your current listing content will appear in the corresponding sections. And you can see your current Used Search Volume and Optimization Score.

Not getting a very good score? Sort the keywords in your bank by Volume to see if there are any high-volume words you’re missing. Then add them to your listing. Keep an eye on your score to track your improvement. Then, once you’ve captured most of the search volume, sort by Opportunity to look for words with little-to-no competition.

Customize Character Limits

If you’re starting a new listing from scratch, make sure to adjust the character limits for your listing according to your Seller Central Account. To change the character limits, select the settings icon beside the section header and enter the character limits for your product. Not sure how to find out what your character limits are? Check out our quick and simple guide.

Organizing Keywords in the Word Bank

Once you have adjusted your character limits, you’ll want to organize your keywords in the keyword bank. Sort by Priority Score, Exact Volume, and Opportunity Score so that you see the keywords you want to prioritize first. You also have the option to toggle between Phrase View and Unique View, which allows you to see individuals terms or complete search phrases.

When in Phrase View, you have the option to remove terms that do not apply to your product by clicking the trash icon. But be careful. There may be individual words within that phrase that are still important to your product. And that’s where Unique View is really helpful. Make sure you’re seeing and using every last keyword you can by scrolling through individual terms. You’ll see the number of times that term was used in a search phrase to help you determine how important it is.

Using Keywords from the Bank

As you use the terms you collected from your search, you will see them grey out in the word bank on the left side of the screen. And once you use a term, for example first aid kit, it will grey out and cross out in all other phrases that contain it. So first aid kit for car will be partially greyed and crossed out, letting you know that you still need to use for car in your listing.

Ideally, you would use for car somewhere after the term first aid kit to maintain the phrase order. That’s why we offer Phrase View, so you can see the phrase order and hopefully keep your keywords in that flow. For example, let’s say you want your title to start:

Travel First Aid Kit

You can easily add in for car and get the whole phrase. And as long as first aid kit is used early in the title, you can fit the second half of other, similar phrases like first aid kit for kids

Travel First Aid Kit for Car: Emergency Kit for Kids and Adults

You can get the most ranking power when you keep a phrase completely intact. Maintaining phrase order is the next best option, but eventually even that becomes an impossible puzzle too. You’ll have to make choices about which phrases to maintain and which to split up.

These difficult choices are why creating an elegant, optimized listing that is still readable for your customers is so hard. You can get the most effective listing for your product and the power of Keyword Research in your listing without spending hours deliberating over which keyword to use and where to use them.

Would you rather leave your listing copy to the experts? Try our recommended Amazon product listing service!

Backend Search Terms

Once you have finished writing the visible content for your listing, you can add any terms that remain in your keyword bank to your backend search terms. Simply use the Move Unused button in the header of your word bank. Up to 250bytes of unused terms will immediately copy over into the Backend Search Terms section.

By default we only show one field for Backend Search Terms. Amazon is only indexing 250 bytes for this section, which can all fit in the first field. Based on our research into Backend Search Terms, there is no benefit to using the additional fields.

Saving and Exporting

Our Amazon Listing Builder Tool continuously and automatically saves your work. You can see the last time your work was saved under the Import Listing button. If you want to leave and come back to a listing, you can find it in the History tab under Keyword Research on the left-hand navigation inside the Launchpad.

If you are ready to use your listing, you can copy all content to your clipboard with the Copy Listing button below your Optimization Score or download the content as a CSV file. And if you decide you want to start over, you can delete the content from all fields with the Clear Listing button. You also have the option to copy or delete individual fields with the clipboard icon and the X at the far right side of each field.
